Beginner or not, you have to keep learning! This is the first lesson I can provide you. A screenwriter is just like any kind of writer - a student forever. You have to read posts on how to do this craft. You must know exactly how to format a screenplay and create a perfect logline/synopsis/treatment. There's no easy way. You are going to sweat it all out. Trust me, it's worth it.
I thought at first that I can escape using any screenwriting software, but of course, I can not. It is a must. Seriously. You can find free ones and trial versions until you can afford one. Mine is Arc Studio Pro, and I'm satisfied with it. Easy to use and edit. You have to register with an e-mail address, and you can write 2 scripts with it for free. Endless editing of this two, also no page limit. The ASP desktop version is available for both Windows/Mac.
You have to master writing a logline, an outline, and elements of a script. /dialogue, characters, scenes, structure, theme, etc./
Beyond these basics starts true creativity. Are you ready?
You can learn how to share your idea/self/memory/experience/etcetera in a screenplay that blows other people away when they read it.
Pushing others' imagination means that you can reach your limit each and every time you grab that keyboard.
Commit to your dream, commit to yourself, commit to your craft!
You can read screenwriting books if you want but my way is to watch movies like crazy and outline them. I read great scripts instead of books. What is available online - I use.
your mad hatter.
