One of my favorite early (2000) superhero movies /and Bruce Willis's role/ was 'Unbreakable'. I enjoyed watching him in this movie again and decided to make a weekend movie night of the other two of these characters: 'Split' and 'Glass'. Heavy pieces, yet genius storytelling and acting. Not to mention the photography and editing! Holy Shaft! M.Night Shyamalan did an epic awesome job! Hats off. Gives you the bloody chills, makes you think further and forces you to re-direct. Human life can become way more than you first might think of it.
James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb /+ the other colorful personalities of him /protectors and nurturers// is amazing. Hate to write this about a male actor /it might cause some havoc/, yet he is exceptional in these two movies. Both 'Split' CU shots and 'Glass' CU shots gave me the experience why I decided to make movies, and write screenplays. James has all the capabilities to take you to places you might not go alone. I don't know how he did this. Would love to ask. Mr.McAvoy certainly has some marks from the dark side inside of him. That is the sign of a real actor to me. Just like his 'The Beast' character mentions: blessed are those who went through deep pain and suffering. I can't agree more with that. We can see all the shades and colors of raw beauty. This is how you can create art. All the others are just visiting.
I can't be more grateful for this instinct to watch these movies again. I saw them when they came out but now is the time to really go with it and appreciate them. Inspiration and motivation came out of this weekend. Thank you to each and every cast and crew member! Truly great piece of cinematography. The legacy is going to live on.
