Somvati Amavasya & Maha Sivaratri

Today is Somvati Amavasya, and yesterday was Maha Sivaratri. What do they mean, and why do I celebrate them? I wanted to write about something beautiful today. (I took out my poison tooth last time.)

Somvati Amavasya is perfect for me - timing, place, and circumstances - they all match today. Introspection and purification are necessary for each individual who walks the path of self-realization. It's new moon day, observed every month when the moon is not visible in the sky. Yet, today is extraordinary because of our ancestors. It is said that their spirit comes down to earth to bless their descendants. Meaning: us.

I believe it is natural to seek the blessings of our ancestors in some way. Offering prayers (flowers and fruits, scents and sweets, too) to our beloved god and ancestors can lift our souls. Respect and gratitude are the most purifying emotions (or mindsets) today. Whatever they have done to the family before us, and however they have lived - it was at their best knowledge and goodwill.

Spiritual practices are a positive impact on any day, but today is unique. Offerings, meditation, and charity can bring peace, prosperity, and happiness.

Maha Sivaratri means something to those who worship Lord Siva in some ways. He is the topmost devotee of Lord Visnu, so we should bother. I like Lord Siva to a healthy degree. His task and personality are something to learn from. I want to see him performing Tandav, maybe some other life I did witness his dance. It's the darkest night of the month, but it has an important meaning for married couples - like Siva & Sakti. Siva and Parvati - are symbols of love, power, and togetherness. They are two forms of one energy. This is the true and ancient way of that famous 'twin flame'.

I had to share these with you. I hope you see the possibility to grow.

your writer soul,

Kata The Nomad
